Eimo
Leveraging evolution-informed learning algorithms, we seek to assign function annotations to proteins.
How can we accurately annotate protein function?
Proteins are the fundamental building blocks of life, and they have been involved in nearly every process in living organisms, including catalyzing chemical reactions, transducing signals, cellular transport, immune system, and drug discovery. They are the workhorse macromolecules of the cell and are as diverse as the functions they serve. Techniques such as microarray analysis, RNA interference, and the yeast two-hybrid system can be used to experimentally identify the function of a protein, but advances in sequencing technologies have made large-scale sequences available resulting in challenging in experimental characterization of proteins. To address the knowledge gap, we devised Eimo to accurately assign annotations to proteins of unknown function.
