Leveraging deep learning-based algorithms, we seek to understand the pathogenicity resulting from missense mutation within proteins, to use them to address some of the most complex and interesting challenges in biology, and to transform healthcare.
How can we quantitatively evaluate every genetic mutation?
A missense mutation is a DNA change that results in different amino acids being encoded at a particular position in the resulting protein. Some missense mutations alter the function of the resulting protein. The vast majority (over 98%) of genetic variants have not been experimentally investigated. Understanding the disease-related variants has the potential to transform healthcare and a marked effect on clinical decisions. In principle, computational methods would be an alternative for interpretating the large-scale of genetic variants.
